At the 91撸色 Summer Meeting, the Executive Board voted to move the proposed changes to the 91撸色 Governance to a vote of the membership for approval in the Fall as part of the general election. Read more.
2015 Summer Meeting
As the dust settles on this summer's meeting in College Park, Maryland attendees will take away renewed connections, new ideas, and enthusiasm that will carry them into the new academic year. This was the largest meeting in 91撸色's recent history and attendees enjoyed outstanding plenaries, congratulated award winners, and won prizes in the Exhibit Hall. 2016 Winter Meeting
The 2016 Winter Meeting website will open for Abstract Submissions on August 5 with a deadline of September 9. Watch the WM16 website for additional information.

One of the fun opportunities during the 91撸色 Summer Meeting is reviewing and voting on the top 100 photos as selected by the Committee on Physics in High Schools under the direction of Tommi Holsenbeck. 91撸色-ALPhA Award is Now Open for Nominations
91撸色 and ALPhA (Advanced Laboratory Physics Association) have announced the 91撸色/ALPhA Award for undergraduate physics students who have built (and possibly designed), and left as a legacy for future students an advanced laboratory experiment. Do you have a student (or team of students) who might be interested in taking up the challenge to build an experiment new to their own department and possibly receive national recognition, attend a national 91撸色 meeting, present an invited talk, and receive a check for $4,000? The nomination process is now open.听 Applications need to be completed by September 1, 2015. If qualified candidates are proposed, we anticipate presenting the first award at the 2016 91撸色 Winter Meeting in New Orleans. Read more or Apply. New Quantum Design Website
Quantum Design has announced that to further the goals of science education, it has developed an educational website to encourage the development and sharing of measurement curricula using the wide range of measurement options available with their PPMS VersaLab, a temperature and magnetic field platform. This website provides free teaching materials and sample experiments meant to provide instructors in physics and materials sciences ready-made solutions to use in their classrooms and laboratories. The International Year of Light K-8 teacher resources
In celebration of the International Year of Light, Laser Classroom has several new resources for K-8 teachers.
First is a series of videos that walks teachers through the IYL Kit - the 4 videos total about 30 minutes and go over the kit's contents and the activities in the accompanying booklet.
Second is a free, 5 week, self-paced, online professional development course via Canvas.net for formal and informal educators around teaching light and optics with kids ages 6-14.
