91ߣɫ Travel Grants
Applicant Information: The Special Projects and Philanthropy Committee has limited funds to help 91ߣɫ/NSBP/NSHP members attend the 2025 Summer Meeting. Applications must be received by Monday, May 12, 2025 at 11:59pm Eastern Time, to be considered by the Special Projects/Philanthropy Committee for a grant associated with the 2025 Summer Meeting.
Applicants must be registered for SM25 and provide proof of staying at the conference hotel (please provide your reservation confirmation number): Grand Hyatt Washington. Checks will be mailed within 6 to 8 weeks after 91ߣɫ has received the recipient contact information including a current W-9 form, which must be faxed or mailed. Checks will be mailed to the address applicant provides on the W-9 form.
Travel Grant Eligibility
- 91ߣɫ professional and student members who are registered for the summer are eligible for travel grants.
- The National Society of Black Physicists (NSBP) and National Society of Hispanic Physicists (NSHP) members are eligible for registration grants with consideration given to 91ߣɫ members.Ìý
- Post-secondary, K-12 educators, and students who have secured other support to fully fund the expenses for attending the meeting are not eligible for travel grants. Ìý
- Section Representatives, Area Committee Chairs and Vice Chairs, and other committee chairs and members are not eligible for a travel grant if they are receiving funding from 91ߣɫ to attend the meeting.
- Previous travel grant recipients are eligible to apply.

If selected, awardees may receive a grant of up to $500 to support travel to the 2025 91ߣɫ SummerÌýMeeting.
Who should apply?Ìý
The priorities for funding include specific individuals who contribute to the goals of 91ߣɫ’s Strategic Plan and are:
- K-12 teachers, especially those who teach in rural schools or schools with >50% of the students eligible for free or reduced-price lunch.
- Early career faculty and teachers (early career is defined as someone who is actively employed as a post-secondary or K-12 educator and has at least three years but no more than six years of active experience in teaching, educational support, educational research, or outreach position).
- Faculty from Two-Year Colleges.
- Undergraduate or graduate students who will not be reimbursed for their expenses to participate from their institutions.
- Individuals from higher education institutions that are: Minority-Serving, Predominantly Black, Hispanic-Serving, Tribal College or University, Asian American and Native Pacific Islander-Serving, Native American-Serving Nontribal, Alaskan Native-Serving, or Native Hawaiian-Serving Institutions.
- Individuals who contribute to Strategic Plan Goal 5.
