Committee on Apparatus

The committee on apparatus seeks to inform the 91ߣɫ and the general public about the importance and uses of physics apparatus to teach, inform and inspire by promoting the development and discovery of new instructional equipment, advocating for the rediscovery and repair of classic devices, and encouraging innovation and excitement through competition.

Runs the 91ߣɫ Apparatus CompetitionÌýheld in conjunction with the 91ߣɫ Summer Meeting each year.

Mission

  1. Inform the 91ߣɫ membership about current techniques for the construction, maintenance, and utilization of instructional apparatus.
  2. Seek new and forgotten techniques for presenting ideas in physics through lecture demonstrations and laboratory exercises.
  3. As authorized by the Executive Board, conduct events such as the apparatus competition to recognize, reward, and publicize contributions to physics teaching through lecture demonstrations and laboratory exercises.
